For one, they are played on www.itsyourturn.com, but I knew them from before that. They sre also well-known on the web, see www.pente.com eg. Date: Wed, 2 Aug 2000 18:55:47 GMT Newsgroups: rec.games.abstract Hi all, I have been doing a bit of reading in Allis' thesis in which he solves (a.o.) the game Go-Moku, 5 in a row on a 15x15 board, where overlines (6 or more) are not allowed. (a first player win) I have been wondering whether the following games have been solved: Renju (like Go-Moku, but black (the first player) loses if he makes a double three or three-four threat. Professional Renju (Renju with opening restrictions) Pente (like Go-Moku, but allowing captures of pairs by closing them in on two sides; capture of 10 stones also wins the game) Keryo-Pente (like Pente, but also triples can be captured, 15 stones also wins). Does anybody know of relevant work related to these games? AFAIK none of the above variations have been solved. In fact, the list of solved games is pretty small. Aside from the trivial ones like Tic-Tac-Toe or the ones with some optimal mathematical strategy like Nim, the only solved games seem to be: - Connect-4 (Allis) - Qubic (Patashnik, re-solved by Allis) - Go-moku (Allis) - Nine Men's Morris (Gasser) Aside from these, I think 7x7 Hex has been solved, and also 6x6 Othello. - Oon Wee Chong.
