What's >the average level here? High school? undergrad? grad? etc... There is a FAQ: http://www.cs.unb.ca/~alopez-o/math-faq/math-faq.html but it has not been updated for about two and a half years. There is a rival FAQ: http://www.hit.fi/~lounesto/FAQ.htm That one is maintained by Pertti Lounesto. Pertti knows a lot of maths (particularly Clifford algebras and 4 dimensional stuff), but he is... peculiar. There is James Harris http://www.pisquaredoversix.force9.co.uk/JSH.htm There are some excellent mathematicians. Look out for Robin Chapman, Robert Israel, Fred Helenius and many others. There is the usual selection of trolls, idiots, cranks, kids who need help with their homework URGENTLY, people who deny the truth of just about any basic mathematical fact, people who wonder if 0.999... is really 1, people who have just proved (or are just about to prove) just about any unproved mathematical statement. And lots of ordinary folk who are just interested in mathematics. # No binaries. # Read sci.math in a fixed width font. # Do not post HTML. # Try not to use special symbols. # "x squared" is written "x^2". Have fun. Try and keep it mathematical. Humour is allowed. -- Clive Tooth http://www.pisquaredoversix.force9.co.uk/ End of document
