Two books on modal logic I would like to recommend:

Sally Popkorn, First Steps in Modal Logic, Cambridge University Press, 1994:
easy to read text book with exercises, some typos, no index. This is for
beginners.

Alexander Chagrov and Michael Zakharyaschev, Modal Logic, Oxford Science
Publications, 1997: a very comprehensive text book on modal and intuitionistic
logics.
