I am looking for names of schools that offer >> degrees in computer/symbolic algebra degrees such as MS or PhD. Most graduate schools in the US that offer computer science advanced degrees offer degrees in computer science, not specialties like "programming languages" "operating systems" "computer algebra" ... etc. If you wish to find out about schools that offer COURSES in computer algebra (or related areas), there are certainly a few that can be found by looking at the listings on "symbolicnet" maintained at Kent State University. The presence of one faculty member can make it possible to study an area, but if the school is otherwise of no interest to you, you are taking a gamble. There are many other characteristics of a graduate school that can affect your choice, including, of course, whether you can be accepted by the program. Univ. Calif at Berkeley does not offer a specific degree in computer algebra, but there are courses in Math and in Computer Science that would fit into such a concentration in either home department. In Europe, graduate education is rather different, and you might find Univ. Linz' RISC program of interest. -- Richard J. Fateman fateman@cs.berkeley.edu http://http.cs.berkeley.edu/~fateman/
