• Birds show a number of similarities with the dinosaurs:

  • S-shaped neck
  • reduced fibula (a lower leg bone parallel to the tibia or ìshinboneî
  • reduction or loss of digits I and V in the feet, but IV and V in the hands
  • a particular type of ankle joint (advanced mesotarsal ankle)
  • a perforated hip socket
