Some anthropologists divide this species into at least two: true H. habilis and the somewhat earlier H. rudolfensis

Brain size: 650 cc average; range is 500-800 cc (overlaps with Australopithecus range)
Age: 2.4ó1.6 million years ago. Coexisted with robust australopithecines
