Skull of ìThe Old Man of La Chapelle-aux-Saintsî shows ìClassic Neandertalî features. This was an old man who had lost his molar teeth (which explains the odd smooth gap in the lower jaw).
In part because the ìOld Manî had also suffered from arthritis, paleontologist Marcellin Boule interpreted him, and all Neandertals, as stooped, apelike brutes. Not so!
